Jim Gauthier - Honorary Chairman

The Community worked hard to build Seven Oaks General Hospital - our hospital. We lobbied for decades to bring excellent medical care for our families closer to home. We rallied when our hospital was threatened with closure. Now we must rally again to ensure that our Emergency Department will continue to provide high quality and compassionate medical care.

Seven Oaks General Hospital has the busiest Emergency Department of all the community hospitals in Manitoba. Designed to accommodate 24,000 patients per year, the ER must now manage more than 34,000 patients. The dedicated ER employees at Seven Oaks currently provide quality care despite increasing demands for space, equipment and time, but careful planning is needed now to avoid further operational pressures.

That is why the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation launched the Emergency Relief Capital Campaign - a $4-million campaign to expand and enhance the ER at Seven Oaks General Hospital. The government is doing its part for this much-needed project. Now it's up to us to invest in our own community, to safeguard the health of our families, our aging parents and our children.

Renovations will enlarge the ER by 50%, increase the number of treatment spaces from 13 to 24, and as a result, significantly reduce wait times for patients. Ambulance Bays will be redesigned to improve efficiency of patient transport. Patients and their families will have a more comfortable waiting room.

The Foundation's board of directors and the hospital's board of trustees are committed to raising the money necessary to fund this important project.
